"Songs of the River" is a six-part series documenting Shantu Moitra's (most known for his scores in the films Parineeta, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Lage Raho Munnabhai and 3 Idiots) journey along the Ganga, spanning from its source at Gangotri to its end at Gangasagar. Covering a distance of 2500 km, he traversed this route primarily by cycling, and the rest on a boat.
Throughout the expedition, he had the privilege of inviting esteemed artists to join him on the riverbanks, collaborating on the creation of songs inspired by their experiences. This undertaking took place amidst the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, occurring between its second and third waves, a period that significantly altered the global landscape. "Songs of the River" serves as a tribute to the remarkable individuals who call the banks of the Ganga home, offering viewers a deeper understanding of why this river is hailed as one of the greatest of all.
My work on this series involved being the senior editor on the first 2 episodes featuring Mohit Chauhan (Episode 1) and Taba Chake + Maati Baani (Episode 2) under the supervision of Shweta Venkat Mathew.
